LASU SECURITY UNIT - SECURITY TIPS
Below is a list of list security tips released by the Lagos State University Security Unit as an attempt to further aid the security of students of the university.
- Avoid social events at night to the barest minimum level;
- Avoid walking alone in the night;
- Do not keep late nights;
- Iyana-Iba, PPL, Alaba, Iba, Okokomaiko, Agric etc are all close surroundings of the University. Passing through these places at night could be dangerous;
- Avoid unnecessary invitation or unsolicited assistance from people you barely know either or within the University;
- Before you squat, live or rent an apartment with others, endeavour to check their backgrounds;
- Watch and be extremely careful when crossing the road;
- Avoid listening to music through ear phones while walking on the road or just use one of the ear piece;
- Do not be unnecessarily flashy in your dressing in order not to draw unusual attention to yourself;
- Eschew violence and do not go near where there is one. You may get injured, maimed or get killed in the process as well;
- Do not forget to lock your doors firmly before leaving the hostel and in the night when going to bed;
- Switch off all electronic gadgets while leaving home in the morning;
- Avoid following strangers to strange places;
- When boarding a bus, check very well before boarding to avoid one chance and kidnappers;
- Report any unusual or strange person [s] movements around you to the Security Personnel;
